The Old Dark House is still copyrighted. You can only check for copyright at USCO for movies made in 1950 and thereafter.

I found that to be so But why is it? I remember seeing recently "Murders in the Rue Morgue" uploaded here, and obviously it didn't stay up for long, but it seemed clear to me the guy who uploaded it didn't know any better. I think USCO should make information on ALL films accessable, regardless of when they're made. Why they don't do that is a mystery to me. Is there another source of info for the older films, 1949 and earlier. I know the old Universal monsters are copyrighted and likely always will be, so I don't need to look them up. But what about the more obscure material that's out there?
